Hello Klahowya Families and Students, 

 

This week our band and choir performers did such an amazing job entertaining us at their concerts! Also, the musical Frozen wrapped up on Sunday, they were fantastic! We also heard that one of Mrs. Marchetti’s art students has earned a place at the State level for one of her artwork pieces. See more information in the newsletter below. KSS students are very talented, great job, we are so proud of you!

 

We have several events coming up next week including Spirit Week. The theme is Emerald City! Our Middle School students have their second MS Social on Wednesday and High School Tolo is on Saturday. More details, including information on ticket sales, are included below in the newsletter for these events.

Attendance/Tardies/Early Dismissals

Early Dismissal: Send a note with your student stating the time of dismissal, reason and name of person who will be picking up the student. Student should, when possible, arrange for dismissal through the Attendance Office before school starts.  Otherwise, we ask for at LEAST 30 minutes notice.  This will avoid trying to track down a student that might be at lunch, an assembly and/or outside with their class.

Seniors The End Of The Year Is Quickly Approaching!

There is a MANDATORY senior meeting on Tuesday, March 26th in the auditorium from 10:40-11:10. Cap & Gown pick up will directly follow this meeting. High School Tolo Dance 

High School students are you ready to dance the night away? Mark your calendars for Friday, March 16th from 7:00-10:00 p.m. for the 2024 TOLO dance. The theme is Emerald City. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, February 28th and cost $12 with an ASB card, $15 without ASB, and $15 for a guest pass. The last day to purchase tickets is Wednesday, March 13th. See you there!

World Language Proficiency Test for CKSD Students

Test Date: April 17th

Registration Closes: March 27th

Can you fluently read, write, speak, and listen in a language other than English? 

If you are a student in grades 7 through 12 in Central Kitsap School District, you can earn high school credit in a world language by successfully passing district-approved assessments and demonstrating your language proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in the language. Assessments are available for many different world languages, and every effort will be made to provide assessments in any language requested.

Navigating High School and Dual Credit Night March 18th

Navigating High School~ Families are invited to attend our Navigating High School Night here at KSS on Monday, March 18th, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. All 8th grade students and families are encouraged to attend to learn more about selecting the right classes for a smooth transition to high school. Students in high school who need more detailed information about selecting courses should also attend.

 

Dual Credit Information Night~ Klahowya has many opportunities for students to get college credits while in high school. If you are interested in learning more, please attend Dual Credit Information Night on Monday, March 18th from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the KSS Auditorium.

Class of 2028 Merchandise Fundraiser

The deadline to order Class of 2028 merchandise has been extended to March 28!  The Class of 2028 is selling T-shirts for $25 and hoodies are $40; personalization is available for $10 extra.  Stickers cost $5.   All money raised supports class activities, including Klahowya’s first ever 8th Grade Dance, on June 7.  T-shirts and hoodies are available in both black (the 8th grade school color) and white (the 9th grade school color).  Here is a link to the order form: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1HJ13gamCtdbHlsVk9JjdKiTv9D-rhUWyejLsOKVwuRU/edit?usp=sharing.  Forms are also available at the Bookkeeper’s Office.

 

Middle School Football

MS Football begins on March 18th. This is open to any 7th and 8th graders. Please fill out all required paperwork on Final Forms ( https://klahowya.ckschools.org/activities_athletics/sports/athletic_registration) and make sure to submit your physical. The only items you'll need to provide will be cleats and a mouthguard (or two).

 

We had a meeting on 3/6 during Academy so please reach out to Mr. Witte if you have any other questions.

 

Middle School Social - March 13

The next Middle School Social is less than a week away, and the deadline to buy tickets is Monday, March 11!  The cost is $6 with ASB card/$8 without.  Students need to turn in a completed Contract, signed by a parent or guardian, at the time of purchase.  Contracts are available at the Bookkeeper's Officer and in students' "Class of..." Google Classroom.  ASB is still accepting candy donations, which can be turned into the main office.

Middle School Cross Country

Spring Sports have started.  If you enjoy being outside in the fresh air, and want a sport that allows you to be a part of a team, while competing as an individual, then Cross Country might be for you.  All paces and levels of experience are welcome!  If you are thinking about joining, but haven't signed up, you should do so right away!  Even if you don't have a physical yet, you will still receive important information about the upcoming season.  You can direct all questions to Coach Leigh at [email protected].
