Hello Klahowya Families and Students,

Congratulations to our students for completing first semester and for staying focused during finals! Second semester begins on Monday, February 5th. Although we won’t be mass printing student schedules for the second semester, students can find their schedule in PowerSchool. Printed schedules will be available by request in the Main Office, Student Service Center and students may print their own copy in the library.

Please join us in celebrating our school counselors! School Counselor Appreciation Week is February 5th - 9th. We hope you can find a counselor this week to give a hug or a high five in appreciation for all they do. We are grateful for the Klahowya counseling team.

February is also Black History Month. This year’s theme is African Americans and the Arts. Staff and students are invited to celebrate and create art inspired by the following theme: I celebrate Black history. I am Black history. Artwork can be uploaded electronically. Please include a version of the art, their name, grade, school, title, and an explanation of the inspiration of their artwork using the QR code on the following fliers.

Individual or group submissions are accepted. The deadline is February 21. The submissions will be included in the 2024 CKSD Black History Site.

Valentine’s Day Gram Sales

Middle School ASB is selling Valentine’s Day Grams during 1st and 2nd lunch, Monday, February 5 through Friday, February 9. Grams cost $1 each, and come with a fun sized piece of candy or Dum Dum. All Grams will be delivered to the student's Home Academy on Tuesday, February 13. Want to order a Gram for your student? No problem. Simply fill out this form and turn it in, along with your money, to the Bookkeeper’s Office.

8th Grade Only Dance June 7th, 2024

We are excited to announce that on June 7th, 2024, Klahowya will be hosting our first ever 8th grade only dance.This will be a fun opportunity for the Class of 2028 to celebrate the end of Middle School. The plan is for an evening event with a live D.J. It will be a free event for all 8th graders.

Because this is a new event, we are looking to form a Parent/Family Planning Group. This group would help plan the event, assist with fundraising, and help with decorations and set-up. If you are interested in joining this group, or would like more information, please contact Middle School ASB Advisor Leigh Hampton at: [email protected]. Klahowya Foundation Scholarship Fund

Klahowya Community, do you belong to a business or civic group that is looking for ways to make a difference?

We are actively seeking funds to build our scholarship program again this year and we are asking for your support. Scholarship awards, of any amount, will help Klahowya seniors continue with post-secondary education in colleges, universities and technical schools.

Businesses, civic groups and individuals contributing to our scholarship fund will be listed on our Graduation Commencement Program. In addition, a gift of $250 or more will be listed as a specific scholarship carrying the name of the contributor. Your donation is important to us. Please take some time to consider the amount you are able to send.

Service Academy / ROTC Information Night

School Choice Transfer Requests for 2024 - 2025

Students are encouraged to enroll at their attendance area school, however, if your family would prefer to enroll at a school outside your neighborhood, you may submit a transfer request. Space must be available in a school and/or program before we can approve a transfer and we give priority to resident students of Central Kitsap School District. Transfers are approved on an annual basis and need to be submitted each school year. If you would like to request a transfer for NEXT school year, 2024-2025, please start at this link where you will find information and forms.

West Sound Tech “Explore Your Future”

10th and 11th graders, come out to the Explore Your Future free community event on FEB 26 from 5-7pm at the Kitsap Pavilion. (Please note that this is an updated date and place).

Yearbooks are on sale now through February 4th and then again April 1st through the end of the year. Get yours before we sell out!

Senior Morphs Seniors! Have you sent in your Senior Morph for the Senior Morph video that will be unveiled during the Moving Up Assembly in June? We need four photos from you including a baby photo, an elementary photo, a middle school photo and a senior photo. It is best if these are in JPG format, but TIFF and PNG work as well. To have the highest quality morph, make sure your head is roughly the same size in each picture, you are alone in the photo and it is high quality. (Typically, these photos should each be larger than 1 MB in size. 2 MB or higher is preferred.) Make sure you label each photo with your first and last name!!! This is all due by Friday February 23rd. If you don't submit by then, you run the risk of not being in the Senior Morph Video. Click on this link.
