Eligibility
Students in grades 9-12 are eligible for the KSS Knowledge Bowl team. Each team can have up to six members. Team members should be strong academically in one or more subject areas; information retained from classes is the key to doing well in competition!
Competition
Competition is comprised of five rounds (one written and four oral) and lasts all day. Teams with the highest score in each division at the third meet will advance to state.
How to Join
If you are interested in being a member of the Knowledge Bowl Team, contact Jennifer O'Boyle. If you would like to practice your Knowledge Bowl skills, check out the weekly quizzes at Knowledge Master Weekly.
Varsity Letter
Knowledge Bowl team members may earn a varsity letter by meeting the following requirements:
- Students must be in grades 9-12, and maintain cumulative G.P.A of at least 3.0. Students with a D or F on their report card, regardless of cumulative GPA, shall not be eligible to letter in Knowledge Bowl.
- Students must attend at least 75% of all scheduled practices, and compete in a minimum of 6 competitions to qualify for a letter. Because there are only 3 competitions in a school year, this requirement can only be met by being on the team for more than one year.
- At the coach’s discretion, additional consideration will be given to students who may not meet the competition requirement, but exhibit commitment and excellence through serving as a team officer, mentoring and recruiting team members or organizing fundraisers or other special events.
