The first full week in May is the start of the 2023-2024 AP exam window. Below you will find important information regarding exam room locations, exam times, lunch time, and items to bring to the exam room. If you have any questions related to your AP exam, please ask your teacher or Mr. Covelli.

If you are taking an exam in the afternoon:
Mon., Tue., Wed., Fri. - go to the first scheduled lunch (11:10 am-11:40 am) and then report for your exam.
Thursday - Attend your 5th period class and take first lunch. Report for your exam at 11:40 a.m.
What to bring to the Exam Room:

Sharpened No. 2 Pencil.

Two Pens black or dark blue.

Calculators (Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Statistics).

School ID
-
Water.

Snack for break time

Physics students should bring a straight-edge/ruler.
(we will have additional supplies available for you if needed)
When You Arrive.
A proctor will check you in and give you an assigned seat. The proctor will collect any electronics that you have and place them in a locked bin. They will let you know where you can store your backpacks/bags. At 8:00am/12:00 pm,the proctor will begin reading your exam instructions and walk you through exam procedures. You will receive a break between each exam section. Once you have completed your exam, you will remain in the exam location until the scheduled exam time has passed.
Electronics:
All cell phones and smart watches will be collected prior to the start of the exam and will not be returned until the exam is completed.
Remember, get a good night's rest and eat breakfast/lunch. We know you will do great on your exam!
The Advanced Placement program allows students to take college-level courses while they are in high school. It is one of several ways students can earn college credit while still in high school including College in the High School and
Running Start.
AP courses are taught by high school teachers who follow curriculum guides established by college faculty through the College Board Advancement Program. Students take a national exam in May.

Exams and College Credit
AP grades of ’4’ and ‘5’ are comparable to a college grade of ‘A’, and AP grades of ‘3’ are comparable to a college grade of ‘B’. Students who score above ‘3’ on a five-point scale are usually given college credit at colleges and universities across the state and the country. At state institutions in Washington, students may receive as much as 15 quarter hours of credit for each score of ‘3’ or higher on an AP exam.
Each college defines what scores it accepts for credit or course placement. Klahowya offers AP courses in the following academic areas: Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Physics C (Calculus Based), Calculus AB, Calculus BC, Statistics, Computer Science A, English Language & Composition, English Literature & Composition, U.S. History, World History, Government & Politics: United States, Human Geography, Psychology, Studio Art, French, Japanese, and Spanish. This compares to a national average of 10 courses for schools participating in the program.
Expectations for academic performance, behavior, maturity and time commitments are at the college level. Students should expect more reading and homework and expect to be evaluated as a college student. Because these classes use college textbooks and are college-level courses, students and parents may expect some exposure to mature subject matter.
*Note: There is a fee for each AP Exam. Students who need financial assistance for AP materials and examination fees should contact their AP teacher or the Assistant Principal.
