Thank you to everyone who took our calendar survey back in February! Your input helped us better understand your thoughts on start dates, snow days, mid-winter breaks, conferences, and more.
What We Heard
-
Start Dates: Many of you prefer starting a bit earlier (but not too early) and ending earlier. A smaller number would rather start after Labor Day for a longer summer.
-
Snow Days: You suggested adding make-up days after spring break to avoid last-minute calendar changes.
-
Mid-Winter Break: Some value a full week while others prefer a shorter version for an earlier end to the school year.
-
Spring Conferences: You suggested holding spring conferences earlier to better align with student progress.
-
Holidays & Long Weekends: You asked us to sync days off with holidays to support planning, rest, and family time.
-
Calendar Predictability: You asked for more consistent calendars from year to year.
Next Steps
- Moved snow make-up days later in the year.
- Added a non-student day in February to create a long weekend (a short mid-winter break).
- Shifted spring conferences earlier in the year.
- Set Thursday, June 18, 2026, as the last day of school to allow for these changes.
We are also using your input to draft calendars for the 2026-27, 2027-28, and 2028-29 school years. Our goal is to build consistent calendars that support both learning and the well-being of our students, staff, and families. Once those drafts are ready, we will share them with you.
Thank you again for being part of this process. Have a great summer!
