Taking “in the good” is an intentional action that internalizes positive experiences into our memories. This action impacts our wellness and can lead to less stress. According to Rick Hanson in his book “Hardwiring Happiness,” HEAL-the four steps into taking in the good are:
ave a positive experience. 
nrich it. 
bsorb it. 
ink positive and negative material.
Each step of HEAL serves a purpose:

Having a positive experience activates the positive mental state. (step 1)

Enriching, absorbing, and linking installs it into the brain (steps 2, 3, 4)
Directions:

You are being invited to “take into the good.” What brings you happiness, peace, and joy? Set a timer for 2 minutes and list all the things you can think of that bring you happiness, peace and joy. Note, this will be for your awareness.

Now ask a friend, or a family member the same question and listen to what they say. Notice how you feel.
