Conferences

Hello Klahowya Students and Families,

To support students in their learning efforts, our school will hold parent/student & teacher conferences during the week of October 19-23rd. Conferences are a time for students to set performance goals and allow families, students, and teachers the opportunity to communicate regarding student progress. This year conferences at Klahowya will look very different due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

We value partnerships with our families and always encourage two way communication on student progress. During these unusual times, we encourage you to schedule a conference if your student has “Incomplete” or “C” grades in a particular class. Additionally, we also encourage you to schedule a conference if there are specific questions for an individual teacher. Please note that while it is possible to schedule conferences with multiple teachers, we are prioritizing conferences to support families and students who need extra support during this time.

To help you prepare for conferences and to answer your questions, we have developed a website that contains important information from our staff regarding our school and classes.  Check it out here!

This year we will schedule conferences using the PTCFast (Parent Teacher Conference) software. This allows families to schedule multiple conference appointments on-line. This is especially handy if you have multiple students enrolled in our school! You can sign up for conferences HERE.

To support conferences, during the week of October 19-23rd and October 26-30 your student may see more review and practice activities. All conferences will be held in a remote manner using the Zoom platform or by phone. Families do not need a Zoom account and can use a cell phone or a school Chromebook to participate in conferences. Each conference will last around 10-12 minutes and we would like students to attend the conference.

We are excited to partner with you regarding your student's learning and look forward to seeing you in conferences!

Setting up a Klahowya Parent, Student, Teacher conference

1. If you know your student’s schedule, skip to step 2 otherwise you will need to look up your student’s teachers in PowerSchool: http://ps.cksd.wednet.edu/public/ If you do not have a PowerSchool Parent Access account set up, or start here to create an account.

2. Conference sign-ups are scheduled through PTC Fast and can be located here: https://ptcfast.com/schools/KlahowyaSecondarySchool

3. Select a teacher, then fill in the form to register. An email from PTC Fast will be sent to the email you provide with a link to pick an available time to set up your conference. An email will then be sent with a Zoom link for the time of your conference.

If you have any problems, contact the main office 360-662-4000.

Klahowya Counselor Support

Klahowya counselors are available to support student learning throughout the 20-21 Conference Days. Students & parents may request that a counselor attend their scheduled teacher conference or connect individually with them. Reasons students & parents might want to meet with the school counselor via telephone conference or Google Meet video conference:

  1. Seek help with organization & study strategies

  2. Get ideas to improve communication between home & school

  3. Support & improve school attendance

  4. Guide course planning decisions

  5. Ask college & career questions
