A message from Principal McDaniel

Hello Klahowya Eagles and Families!

We topped off our second week of school with a virtual assembly and tonight is our first home football game!  It’s great to see the school year coming together and students having the opportunity to connect.

We would like to thank you for your patience and flexibility as we work through scheduling.  We have found it necessary to alter our bell schedule from three lunches to four on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday to maintain social distancing and keep our students safe.  The new bell schedule will be available on Monday.  We will review new lunch assignments with students on Monday morning.  You can see the new bell schedule here.  Thank you again for your flexibility as we work through this new school year.

We look forward to seeing you at Open House September 23.  We will be sending more information the end of next week regarding staff links and videos.

If you are able, please come support our athletes at the first home football game of the season tonight starting at 6:30 p.m.

Go Eagles

KEBPA

The Klahowya Eagles Band Parent Association (KEBPA) is holding our first meeting on Tuesday, September 14, at 6:30 in the band room.  We are a group of parents and guardians dedicated to supporting our student musicians, and the Klahowya band program.  Regular meetings will be on the first Tuesday of each month.  We invite you to attend meetings and to learn more about us, the band programs. And to see what amazing things we can accomplish together for our musicians!

Educational Equity

At KSS we believe that:

  • Every student has the Potential to Achieve

  • Every student has the Right to be Affirmed and Supported to meet her or his highest potential

  • Every student has the Right to an Equitable Educational Experience

At KSS we expect students to commit to the following:

  • Reflecting on your own identity, experiences and perspectives

  • Advocating for issues about which you are passionate

  • Listening to understand each other’s perspectives, recognizing that listening does not constitute agreement

  • Engaging in informed, thoughtful and respectful dialogue

The concept of Educational Equity goes beyond formal equality (where all students are treated the same) to fostering a barrier-free environment where all students have the opportunity to benefit equally.

Do you see an inequity at KSS or within the Central Kitsap School District?
If so, please take some time to fill out the Equity Inquiry Form.  Hard copies are also available at the Main Entrance.

A note from Attendance

The best way to request Early Dismissal is to send a note with your child to school.  Students bring the note to the Main Office to exchange for a dismissal pass.  If you are unable to send note and need to pick up your student early, please give us at least 30 minutes to get them from class. Please give us as much time as possible to locate student and get a pass delivered to them.

Please report all absences, tardies and dismissals to (360) 662-2031 or michellec@ckschools.org.  Due to new health guidelines, all absences need to be reported as soon as possible.

Athletics

Hello Eagles Fans!!

We are excited to be able to have spectators in the stands this season. There are some district rules that need to be followed if you will be attending a Volleyball, Soccer or Football game this season

As discussed previously, protocols are constantly changing. A few of those changes are listed below.

  • We have changed our seating capacity for our stands to allow for social distancing: KSS- 600 in the stadium
  • Masking and Social Distancing is REQUIRED for all spectators regardless of vaccination status Indoors AND Outdoors (Football games).
  • Masking is REQUIRED to purchase a ticket.
  • All Home games will be available on our Free Live Streaming!

Disabled parking is VERY limited, but we will open the bus lane to allow people to be dropped off closer to the field (Football and Soccer). We are working on a system that will allow a credit/debit card to be used as payment at football games. However, technology can be spotty at times, so bring cash if possible.

Adults $6.00, visiting students with ASB $4.00, students without ASB $6.00, senior citizens (62 years and up) $4.00, preschool children free when accompanied by an adult.  Free entrance with a Klahowya ASB card.
