Counselor's Corner     Counselor Corner

This November we challenge you to focus on the idea of 'gratitude' which is defined as the act of being thankful. Scientific research validates the psychological and physical benefits of gratitude as a way to increase mindfulness & well-being. Expressing gratitude to those who have helped you reduces stress, increases optimism, and actually changes your brain. It doesn't have to be complicated either.

Today I am grateful for:  Try starting each morning with a mental checklist of 3 things in your life for which you are thankful.

Counselors are here for YOU! Reach out if you need support. Click HERE to contact your counselor. Talking to your family can be hard, it doesn't matter the topic. It gets easier when we do it in positive ways and more often. One way to start your whole family talking is in family meetings. You can use a form or wing it. The goal is to try a meeting. Let each person talk. Let each person know events for the week. Enjoy each other. Meeting Your Family (CKSD Family Wellness Site Link) Senior Yearbook Info – 2020-2021

Dear Seniors and Families:     Senior Class of 2021

This year the Klahowya Secondary School yearbook staff is working hard to insure all our seniors have something special to remember their final year, even if it is not the year we were hoping for. Along with this comes guidelines and due dates so the yearbook can be turned in on time. We have 2 deadlines for seniors.

Senior photos should be turned in by January 31, 2021. Look for more information in the next couple of weeks on how to submit your photo. If no senior portrait is turned in, we will use the school photo taken by OPG in November. If no photo was captured, students will not appear in the yearbook.

Senior quotes will also be due January 31, 2021. Quotes must be school appropriate; meaning no swear words/curses, no vulgar comments, and nothing offensive. Quotes will be placed below each senior photo, so we need to have photos and quotes at the same time.

Senior Memory Pages (senior ads) will be due February 28, 2021. We understand these ads are very important to students and parents alike, and the yearbook staff wants to make them as perfect as possible for both! However, there are many things to know and understand about ads. These ads are to send messages and share memories with graduating students in their final yearbook. Our space for senior ads is limited, so orders will be taken on a first come, first served basis. Once your ad is designed, a proof will be sent to you for final approval. You will have five (5) days to respond with any corrections. Please keep in mind that we may not be able to use all the photos submitted. Each photo should be at least 300 dpi or higher to ensure prints are of the highest quality. Images must also be submitted digitally. Photos that are deemed unacceptable will not be used. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact the yearbook advisor, Ms. Shaw at lauriesh@ckschools.org .

Ad prices are as follows: Quarter page is $50, half page is $100, and full page is $150 (reduced from previous years!).

Meeting these deadlines allows us to meet ours. Your help is appreciated.
