Dear Klahowya Families and Students,
This spring students in grades 6-8 & 10 will take the Smarter Balanced tests in Mathematics and English Language Arts. Students in grades 8 and 11 will also take the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS).
The results from these tests will give a more accurate picture of whether students are on track to be ready for college or career. For students in grade 10, the Smarter Balanced tests can also be used as a graduation pathway.
Students will take the tests online using their district issued Chromebook (personal devices will not work). Our school is scheduled to take the tests during regular class periods on the following days:
- Mathematics – Grades 6-8 & 10 - May 16-17 & 23-24
- English – Grades 6-8 & 10 - May 18-19 & 25-27
The WCAS Science exam will be taken by students in Grades 8 & 11 on Friday, May 20 in the Gym:
- Science – Grade 8 in the morning -- Grade 11 in the afternoon
Students are encouraged to bring a wired set of earbud headphones for testing. (Wireless headphones are not allowed.) If students do not have access to headphones, a set will be provided to them. Students may also choose to bring and use a mouse for their Chromebook during testing.
