Principal's Message

Hello Klahowya students and families,

We recognize that many of you may be wondering about the High School Tolo Dance that is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2023.  On Saturday evening, February 25th, the Kitsap County weather forecast indicates a high chance of new snow accumulation of up to 3” at our school.  To maintain student safety, and in an abundance of caution, we’ve made the decision to postpone our High School Tolo Dance until March 11, 2023.

All previously sold tickets and guest passes will be honored on Saturday, March 11.  Discipline expectations remain the same, and students should not have discipline during this two-week period.

If students have conflicts with the new date resulting in them being unable to attend, please have them come to the main office.

Looking at the weather next week, we are still seeing cold temperatures and a chance of snow throughout the week.  If we experience any delays or cancellations, the district will communicate this information.  You can always check our website for more information.

Please stay safe and keep warm,

Scott McDaniel

Class of 2023

Hey Seniors, if you have not ordered your cap & gown for graduation there is still time. Please place your order with Jostens by Mar. 1 to make sure you get it in time for graduation. There are order forms in the stand by the Main Office.

Also, check the Class of 2023 Google Classroom for an important announcement about senior quotes in the yearbook. Make note of the specific parameters for your quote before submitting one.

Mark your calendars for the following important dates:

Senior Picture – 3/7 during academy in the gym (seniors need to dress in white and go to the gym to create the number 23 for the yearbook)

Senior Meeting – 3/17 during academy in the gym (go over upcoming events and dates you need to know about)

Cap & Gown delivery - 4/20 during 1st & 3rd lunches

Senior Meeting – 5/12  during academy in the gym (go over graduation information, fines and tickets)

Why attendance matters for kids?

A habit of attendance IS a school readiness skill. Along with social-emotional and readiness skills, consistent on-time attendance is a habit that lasts. Children who are chronically absent in preschool are far more likely to be chronically absent in later grades. Good attendance reflects strong parent engagement.
