A Message from Principal McDaniel

Hello Klahowya Eagles and Families,

As we begin winter break, our staff wishes you and your family the best. We hope that you can enjoy some time together and that you all stay healthy this holiday season.

I know that many of you may be considering new year's resolutions... from a school perspective, here is a great way to get your student involved! Over the break, we encourage all families to check in with your student on their progress and to set goals for the coming year. Additionally, with a couple of weeks off, winter break is a great opportunity for many of our students to get caught up on assignments.

Please remember that school is closed over winter break from 12/19 - 1/3. We look forward to seeing you virtually when school resumes in the new year on 1/4/21.

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year!

Counselor's Corner

KSS Social Hour on Wednesdays has been a hit! Over 150 students participated each week, and we will continue this into the new year and beyond. This is a great way for students to connect with each other, make new friends and explore common interests outside the classroom. The adults overseeing the groups have also enjoyed the social time! We sorely miss our students!

Thank you for your generous support! We have been able to support 43 students with Holiday gifts to share cheer during this difficult time. The Klahowya Family is fantastic!

Wellness

There are many kinds of peer pressure that teens experience within their lives. Peer pressure can negatively or positively impact a youth. It can influence teens to participate in activities or behaviors they normally wouldn’t. Negative Peer pressure activities could be participating in risky behaviors like using drugs, tobacco, or alcohol.  Positive peer relationships can influence each other to study together, try new hobbies, and participate in positive social activities. Parents can assist teens in nurturing positive peer relationships and behaviors. This can be done through daily activities and support.

If you want more info on how to nurture positive peer relationships, or if you need assistance because your teen is experiencing negative peer pressure, please feel free to reach out to the Student Assistance Professional, Alixaundrea Poli (360-519-4133/alixaundreap@ckschools.org

Seniors

We are putting together a page so you can find information and dates for upcoming Senior events and activities.  Seniors will find all information in their Google classroom but this page is meant to help keep your family informed also.  Important events for this week:  have a wonderful winter break!
