Hello Klahowya Eagles and Families,

As we near the start of school, our staff wants you to know that we are excited to see you back on campus! We are extremely excited to kick off the 2021-2022 school year! All students will head to school for their 1st day on Wednesday, September 1st. All 6th Grade students also are invited to attend the Where Everyone Belongs event from 8am - 11:30 am on Tuesday, 8/31.

As we prepare for the first day of school, please remember to pack a mask or two as students and staff are required to wear masks while inside our school and while on buses. This is mandated by our local Health Department and by the Governor's Office. We are happy to provide masks to any who need one. While we are excited to see all our students in person, everyone must wear a mask to enter the building.

This year, due to rising Covid-19 numbers in our county, parents and visitors will not be able to walk students to their 1st period class. Because of this and knowing many of our students are experiencing anxiety about the first days of school, teachers have planned a multitude of activities to help students adjust to school during the first week. We will also have both adults and students available to support and guide students to classes the first two weeks as they begin to get the layout of the school.

Each day, our building will open the doors at 7:00 am for students. (Jazz Band and Choir students will enter the building at 6:50 am through the main office.) Due to limited staff on site, if students arrive before 7:00am they will have to wait outside of the building. As a reminder, school starts at 7:50 am and is dismissed at 2:35 pm.

We know that many of you are anxious to see class schedules with teachers and rooms. Our counseling department has been working countless hours revising schedules for students so that they are ready for next week. We appreciate your patience as we finalize class balancing. We are currently planning on opening electronic access to see student schedules on Monday evening or on Tuesday next week. In addition, we will have a paper copy of each student schedule ready for students to pick up on Wednesday morning when they arrive at school. To access the electronic class schedule, students should log into PowerSchool on Monday afternoon or on Tuesday. Students will also take a school picture on the 1st day of school if they have not already done so.

As we re-enter school, our staff is excited to see students in classrooms and will be working diligently to keep students socially distanced at 3ft. This year, breakfast and lunch are free to all students who attend Klahowya. We encourage families to continue to fill out the Free and Reduced lunch paperwork as this designation still helps our school and district with nutritional funding. During lunch, in addition to eating in our commons, we will be using areas like the library, the new wing pod areas and outside spaces for students to spread out while having lunch. We encourage students to increase social distancing during lunch.

Bus schedules have been posted on-line on the CKSD website. You can access current bus times HERE .

Please check out our traffic and parking map below. For the 2021-22 school year, all student drop off and pickup will take place at the front of the school.
