Klahowya Calendar

Principal's Message

Hello Klahowya Families,

We hope you stayed warm and were able to spend some time with family this week. While beautiful to see, the snowy and cold weather has not been cooperating with us. We apologize for the snow delays and cancellations. Information will be out soon regarding adjustments to the district calendar to make up missed days. We are also in the process of rescheduling missed athletic games for both Middle School and High School sports.

With three weeks left until winter break, we are in the final stretch for students before a two-week vacation. This is a great time to connect with teachers and to ask what students can work on over break. Winter break is a great time to complete missing and incomplete work. We would love to see all students passing all classes!

Next week we have a food drive and a book drive happening to support our local community. This is a great time to clean out that pantry and thin the library at home. Please encourage your student to bring in non-perishable goods and/or new or used books. Our Associated Student Body appreciates your support!

If you would like to help our local school community, please consider stopping by the Klahowya Main Office to help with the Giving Tree. Each year, staff and families join efforts in supporting some of our needy families by shopping, purchasing and/or donating for the holiday season. The giving tree has requests hanging on it if you are willing to help. Donations are dropped off at the Klahowya Student Service Center (SSC).

As we get closer to winter break, there will be a spirit week for all students during the week of 12/19-12/23 and more information will be out soon regarding spirit day apparel. We are also scheduled to have a Middle School Pep Assembly at the end of the day on Friday 12/23.

As a reminder, all school events and athletics are cancelled for today (12/2) and tomorrow (12/3). We look forward to having students back on campus next week.

Thank you,

Scott McDaniel

Principal

The Klahowya Eagles Band Parent Association (KEBPA) is holding our second meeting on Tuesday, December 6th, at 6:00 p.m. in the band room.  We are a group of parents and guardians dedicated to supporting our student musicians, and the Klahowya band program.  We invite you to attend meetings and to learn more about us, the band programs, and to see what amazing things we can accomplish together for our musicians!

Attendance

What are the benefits of good attendance?

Good attendance habits pay off! More school days attended increases a child's academic success, improves their chances to earn a high school diploma and a college degree, so they can earn higher pay in their careers. 80% of success is showing up! School keeps you safe, it educates you, it prepares you for your future.

Please remember to call in at least 30 minutes in advance to have your student released early.

Senior Memory Pages (senior ads) will be due February 6, 2023. We understand these ads are very important to students and parents alike, and the yearbook staff wants to make them as perfect as possible for both! However, there are many things to know and understand about ads. These ads are to send messages and share memories with graduating students in their final yearbook. Our space for senior ads is limited, so orders will be taken on a first come, first served basis. Once your ad is designed, a proof will be sent to you for final approval. You will have five (5) days to respond with any corrections. Please keep in mind that we may not be able to use all the photos submitted. Federal Impact Aid Funds

Every year Central Kitsap School District must apply for Federal Impact Aid funds from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds compensate CKSD for the loss of local tax dollars from tax exempt federal property in the Silverdale and Bremerton area.

CKSD must conduct a federal residence and employment survey on a yearly basis to obtain a current count of families in the district who live on/or work on federal property. The results of our Impact Aid survey help support our request for these federal funds. This survey is critical to our district’s resources for students. The results of our Impact Aid survey help support our request for these federal funds.

Please return your student’s Purple card ASAP or fill it out on-line  https://www.ckschools.org/cms/one.aspx?portalid=11175&pageid=35098
