Holiday Cheer

It’s that time of the year when we begin to think about the upcoming holidays and ways we can celebrate together. Some of you may be needing assistance, some of you may know of a family who needs assistance, and some of you may be wondering how you can help! We are asking interested families to fill out this confidential Holiday Cheer Form so we can best come together and serve our Klahowya families.

Download the flyer.

In partnership with the Association of Washington Student Leaders (AWSL), SBE student communicators get the opportunity to work with state government professionals, community organizations, and state-wide peers. Two positions are funded for 2023 at $25.00 per hour (5 hours per week, flexible schedule, virtual). The internship begins January 3, 2023.

To apply to become an SBE student communicator, please submit your resume and cover letter to [email protected] by November 22. 2022 - 2023 Yearbook

ORDER YOUR YEARBOOK NOW SO YOU DON'T MISS OUT ON THE MEMORIES OF THIS YEAR!  Yearbooks can be purchased at the bookkeeper's window for $50 and priority is given to those who order by December 15, 2022.

SENIOR PHOTOS ARE DUE NO LATER THAN JANUARY 8, 2023.  Photos can be uploaded using your computer or the Yearbook Snap app (instructions below).

Senior photos should be turned in by January 8, 2023. With your computer, go to yearbookSforever.com, click on Community Upload, search for Klahowya, enter our code Eagles, and upload your photo.  Please submit only one photo.  With your cell phone, download the free Yearbook Snap app from the App Store or Google Play. Then search for Klahowya, enter our code Eagles, and follow the directions to upload your photos. Please include Last Name, First Name of student in the Notes box, and be sure to click on the box “This is a portrait.”.

If no senior portrait is turned in, we will use the school photo taken by the school photographer, OPG. If no photo was captured, students will not appear in the yearbook.

Senior Memory Pages (senior ads) will be due February 6, 2023. We understand these ads are very important to students and parents alike, and the yearbook staff wants to make them as special as possible for both! However, there are many things to know and understand about ads. These ads are to send messages and share memories with graduating students in their final yearbook. Our space for senior ads is limited, so orders will be taken on a first come, first served basis. Once your ad is designed, a proof will be sent to you for final approval. You will have five (5) days to respond with any corrections. Please keep in mind that we may not be able to use all the photos submitted. Each photo should be at least 300 dpi or higher to ensure prints are of the highest quality. Images must also be submitted digitally. Photos that are deemed unacceptable will not be used. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact the yearbook advisor, Ms. Shaw at [email protected].

Ad prices are as follows: Quarter page is $50, half page is $100, and full page is $150 (reduced from previous years!).

This fall, high school advisory classrooms will be piloting activities within the Suite360 Student program. Suite360 is a digital program with content aligned to the standards developed by the National Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL). First semester lesson topics include Goals, Digital Literacy, Planning and Organization, Expectations in the Community and Growth Mindset. Each lesson is an engaging multimedia learning experience with instruction, practice activities, and discussion. You can learn more about the pilot program lesson scope and sequence by going HERE.

Federal Impact Aid

Every year Central Kitsap School District must apply for Federal Impact Aid funds from the U.S. Department of Education. These funds compensate CKSD for the loss of local tax dollars from tax exempt federal property in the Silverdale and Bremerton area.

CKSD must conduct a federal residence and employment survey on a yearly basis to obtain a current count of families in the district who live on/or work on federal property. The results of our Impact Aid survey help support our request for these federal funds. This survey is critical to our district’s resources for students. The results of our Impact Aid survey help support our request for these federal funds.

Please return your student’s Purple card ASAP or fill it out on-line  https://www.ckschools.org/cms/one.aspx?portalid=11175&pageid=35098
