Winter Break - No School

A message from Principal McDaniel

Hello Klahowya Families and Students,

Winter break is closing in fast! We have normal school hours scheduled for the week of December 13-17. School is not running during the weeks of December 20-31. If your student is in high school athletics, please have them check with their coach regarding their schedule during winter break. If you need access to resources to help your student get caught up during the break, please contact your teacher early next week.

Our ASL students have their concert scheduled for Thursday, December 16 at 6:00 p.m. Please contact our ASL teacher Cindy Campbell directly if you have questions or would like to attend.

We are looking forward to Winter Spirit Week next week. A list of spirit attire can be found in our Upcoming Events calendar. It will be fun to see the creative costumes our students come up with!

As temperatures get colder, so does the chance of ice and snow. As we stated last week, we use the school messenger system to call each of our families in the event of a delay or closure. Information can also be found on our website and via Central Kitsap School District's site. The most important thing you can do is be safe!

We wish you the best during the upcoming vacation.

Winter Break is an important time for students to practice self-care. We hope that everyone takes a few minutes each day during their holiday break to decompress, practice mindful breathing, unplug from electronics and cell phones, and to celebrate family and friendships.

With less than one month before the end of first semester, December is also a great window of opportunity for students to clean out and reorganize school back-packs and binders, restock supplies, and set new academic and personal goals for the New Year. Please consider taking time with your student to engage and support these activities, review PowerSchool grades, and reinforce realistic goal setting. S.M.A.R.T. goals provides a clever acronym for both personal and academic goals:

S = Specific

M = Measurable

A = Achieveable

R = Realistic and anchored within a

T = Time frame

Remember to set a date to review your progress, perhaps in mid-January. It might help to photograph or write down current grades or a list of missing assignments to assess improvements at the next check-in.

Calling all seniors. Are you interested in getting together outside of school and hanging out with your friends? Then come to the Class of 2022 Frosty Feast! This potluck event will take place on Sunday, December 12, 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Crosby Community Club. This Seniors only event is sponsored by the Senior Parent Planning Committee. It’s free of charge--just bring a dish to share. We hope to see you there!

The Winter sports season has begun and we are allowing spectators in the stands this year.

While we are excited to see you at the game, we have a few expectations from our fans.

No In and Out- Once you leave the building (go outside) you will not be allowed back in the game

Masks must be worn at all times covering your nose and mouth

No artificial noise-makers of any kind are allowed during the game

No food or drink allowed in the gym

Be respectful to the visiting team and officials. Cheer FOR Klahowya and not AGAINST the other team

No throwing of any objects

If you are not able to comply with these rules, you may be asked to leave the game and could be banned from future games.

Support our teams and each other with enthusiasm and positivity!

We have a big night of high school hoops tonight (Friday 12/10)! Boys Varsity kicks things off at 5:30 p.m. followed by Girls Varsity at 7:15 p.m. as we host Seattle Christian. The boys Junior Varsity will play at 7:15 p.m. in the Aux gym as well. Tonight's theme is Holiday Sweater or Holiday Pajamas so come in your favorite festive attire and let's show that Eagle Spirit and Pride in support of Eagle Hoops!
