A message from Principal McDaniel

Hello Klahowya Families and Students,

We apologize for the delay in the distribution of our weekly newsletter... there is a lot going on at our school over the next few weeks!

This week Klahowya students will complete the Healthy Youth Survey, the Washington State Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS), the PSAT and a survey to help us provide Social Emotioal supports for our students. It will be a short and busy week! CLICK HERE for our assessment calendar. As a reminder.... Monday, October 11th is a non-school day.

We have had a recent increase in Covid cases. We appreciate your help in reminding students to wear masks over their noses and mouths while they are on campus. Additionally, students should socially distance at least 3ft from other students in classrooms and 6ft when at lunch and in common areas. If we all work together, our hope is that we will be able to reduce or eliminate Covid cases on campus.

During the week of October 20-22nd, Klahowya will hold parent/student & teacher conferences. There is no school for students on Thursday, October 21st and Friday, October 22nd. Conferences are a time for students to set performance goals and allow families, students, and teachers the opportunity to communicate regarding student progress. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we will offer both in-person and virtual conference options for families. Please make sure to check out our section on Conferences below.... all appointments are scheduled on a first served basis. You can sign up for conferences HERE.

Once again, we thank you for being part of our community. We look forward to talking with you and your student at during conferences!

Conferences

To support students in their learning efforts, our school will hold parent/student & teacher conferences during the week of October 20-22nd. Conferences are a time for students to set performance goals and allow families, students, and teachers the opportunity to communicate regarding student progress. As a reminder, there is no school for students on Thursday October 21st and Friday October 22nd.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we will offer both in-person and virtual conference options for families. Staff will be at Klahowya Secondary School to meet with parents and students if you prefer an in-person meeting. If you would like to meet in a virtual manner, Zoom meeting instructions will be sent with your appointment confirmation. Families do not need a Zoom account and can use a cell phone or a school Chromebook to participate in conferences. Each conference will last around 10-12 minutes and we would like students to attend the conference. This year we will schedule conferences using the PTCFast (Parent Teacher Conference) software. This allows families to schedule multiple conference appointments on-line. This is especially handy if you have multiple students enrolled in our school!

We are excited to partner with you regarding your student's learning and look forward to seeing you in conferences!
