A message from Principal McDaniel

Hello Klahowya Eagles and Families!

Congratulations on a great first week! We are so excited to have you back on campus and to hear the sound of learning in our school! Over the last three days we have seen students establishing relationships with new friends and reconnecting with friends from prior years. We are off to a great start!

This week our students did a great job of keeping masks on and worked to socially distance from each other. In order for our school to remain open, and for our community to remain healthy, we must continue these efforts.

As we begin the school year, the Klahowya Staff is excited to reconnect with our community through Open House on Thursday, September 23rd. This year the Klahowya Open House is structured in a way to provide parents the opportunity to meet teachers in-person or through recorded videos.

If you are unable to attend or don’t feel comfortable with large crowds, we have a variety of ways that you can “meet” your student’s teachers. Over the next two weeks we will send out more information regarding teacher introductory videos and our Open House Website. This will feature short videos from our staff where you can learn more about them. Since student conferences are right around the corner, you will also have another opportunity to check out the building and meet people at the end of October.

If you would like to attend Open House in person on Thursday September 23rd , please note that we have modified the structure of the evening to mitigate crowding and do our best to reduce the number of people in each classroom and throughout the building. You can visit classrooms in any order, we will not follow a bell schedule. We ask that if a classroom has more than 15 people in it to please wait in the hallway or go to another classroom first. If possible, please try and limit the number of family members that will attend this event.

Open House on Thursday September 23rd

  • Families with last names A - K are invited to attend 6:00-7:00pm
  • Families with last names L - Z are invited to attend 7:00- 8:00pm

Thank you for being part of the Klahowya family!

Scott McDaniel

A note from Attendance

When our long time, favorite attendance secretary Jody Deno took over as Klahowya's office manager, Michelle Crawford stepped in to fill her position and is a great addition to our Klahowya team.  Some may recognize Ms. Crawford from Silverwood School.  Please report all absences, tardies and dismissals to (360) 662-4031 or [email protected].  Due to new health guidelines, all absences need to be reported as soon as possible.  If you wish to pick up your student early, please give us at least 30 minutes to get them from class.

Yearbooks can be purchased online at https://wa-centralkitsap.intouchreceipting.com/signin.aspx , or in person at the bookkeeper’s window.
