A Message from Mr. Malich

Dear Klahowya Families,

Thank you for welcoming me 2 years ago with open arms. I have been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to work with such a great staff, students, and families. I wanted to take a moment to let you know that next year, I will be working in the South Kitsap School District as an assistant principal at South Kitsap High School.

This opportunity allows me to be closer to home and to work at a large comprehensive high school. Although I am excited for my new adventure, I am going to miss being a part of the Klahowya family.

John Malich
Assistant Principal

Returning and Non-returning Students 2021-22

Returning student check in for the 2021-2022 school year is happening now. Parents should have received an email the end of May from Powerschool/Infosnap with information to log in to your parent portal and fill out the returning student information and forms for next school year. This needs to be completed for each student before returning to school in September.

Payments & Balance Information

Did you know you can check your student's account online anytime? This is also how you purchase items like ASB cards and yearbooks once we have them set up for the new school year in mid-August. Here are the instructions:

  • Enter your student's ID number as the User Name.
  • The password is your student's last name with the first letter capitalized.
  • After logging in, click on your student's name.
  • If your student has fines, there will be a message and a red "view" button. You may click on the red "view" button and pay fines.
  • You may click on the bar called, "Items at Student's School Including Food Service" to make purchases like the yearbook, ASB cards, etc.
  • If you click on "Purchase History", you can see what has been purchased or paid on your student's account.

School Year 21-22 Plans

The state will continue updating its guidance for schools as state and federal safety guidance evolves, but here’s what we know right now:

  • This fall, we will offer full-time, in-person learning for all students. Our schools will operate according to our previous start/end time schedules .
  • We will also offer a virtual academy (K-12) through Barker Creek Community School and a homeschool option (K-8) through our Parent Partnership program for families who choose it. If you have not done so already, please call us at 360-662-2570 to register or to learn more.
  • We will not offer a hybrid option beyond this spring. Families will need to choose between fully in person, virtual academy, or homeschool for next year.
  • We will observe the state’s physical distancing recommendations. As directed by the Department of Health, these recommendations will not prevent us from offering full-time, in-person learning this fall.

Over the summer, updates to state guidance are expected to reduce restrictions even further. We will keep you informed about how these changes will affect our schools. We are eager to welcome students back on their normal schedules this fall!
