Unit 1 Foundations c.8000 B.C.E.—600 C.E.

Note:  Our general pattern for this 1st unit will be to learn/study 2 chapters/week.  For readings listed, you need to have the pages read when you arrive to class that day—homework from the previous night.  For each reading, you are encouraged to take Cornell Notes for the pages assigned.  Each blue subsection can be turned into a question and answered from the text.

Week #1 Sept. 1-3

9/2—Guns, Germs & Steel—book patterns, Yali’s question, summer ? discussion.

9/3—GGS work due, GGS quiz—one question answered in detail
        HW—read Preface pp. xxxi-xli; Ch. 1  2-5, 14-19 (skim), 20-29;  Ch. 2 33-58

9/6-9/10 Ch. 3 & 4—No specific readings for Ch. 4 listed.  We will be looking at ch. 4 in class looking for /applying patterns.  You should read Ch. 4 on your own so the material isn’t completely new to you.
