Sports Information

A message about Spring Sports starting Monday, March 15, from Klahowya's High School Athletic Director, Lauren McDaniel:

If you have not completed your student athlete's registration process thru Final Forms please do so prior to coming on Monday.  Also, ensure that a valid Physical is on file with KSS prior to  Monday's practice. 
Student athletes who have not completed the Final Forms registration process and/or missing a physical will not be able to participate and will be sent home


Below are some quick bullet points to best prepare you or your student for a successful experience during our Season Two- Spring Sports!  

  • Yes, student athletes must always wear masks (including during practices/competitions)
  • Masks must be 2-ply material 
  • Gaiters are permitted if they are 2-ply
  • 6 feet social distancing will be followed before, after and during breaks at practices. 
  • Please remember to maintain social distancing!
  • ALL KSS Facilities remain closed to the public
  • Please use the student lot (closest to the baseball field) for parking and drop off/pick up
  • spectators are NOT permitted at practices at this time
  • parents are welcome to stay in their cars
  • What's a health screening?  Temperature check and self-attestation for student athletes
  • Student athletes will be health screened by coaches prior to participating in practices
  • If a student does not pass the health screening, they will be sent home
  • No locker room use at KSS
  • Bring your own water bottle
  • No food or drinks (besides water)
student athletes may participate in more than 1 practice a day IF:
  • it is a Spring Sport practice and Fall Sport practice
  • it involves 1 contact sport and 1 non-contact sport
  • it involves 2 non-contact sports
  • communicate with your coach ahead of time

Athletic paperwork is required to participate in sports at Klahowya.  Go to the Athletic Eligibility page to print the forms.  All forms should be turned in to Sharyl Torgerson, ASB Bookkeeper & Athletics Secretary.  You can bring them to school, mail them to PO Box 8, Silverdale, WA 98383, or scan and email them to is the official website of the Nisqually League conference.  Klahowya uses this website for our school sports information — schedules, game changes, scores, standings and more!  Be sure to check frequently for schedule changes of both middle and high school sports.

Attendance Reminder

Students must attend school the full day on the day of the practice or contest unless they have a note verifying the absence was due to an appointment with a physician and/or this physician approves their participation. The student must participate in all courses and classroom activities. Exceptions must be made with the coach and a representative of the building eligibility board.

Concussion Testing

All high school student athletes are required to have Impact Concussion Testing every two years.  This testing is available at Klahowya and can be scheduled with our Athletic Trainer, Kyle Ottenbacher

Game Entrance Fees

Nisqually League high school football, basketball, and wrestling game entrance fees:

  • Adults and Students without an ASB card - $6

  • KSS Students at Home Game with ASB card – Free

  • Visiting Students with ASB card and Elementary Students - $4

  • Seniors 62 and over - $4

  • Students 5 yrs and under – Free

  • All other HOME Sport games are free

Transportation to Games

It is the District's policy to transport all student athletes to and from events.  If there is an exceptional circumstance which makes it necessary for a parent to transport their student, the "Consent to Use Private Transportation" must be completed and delivered to the coach no later than the day prior to the event. 

The form must be given to the coach no later than the day prior to the athletic event.

More Information

  • Read the CKSD Guideline detailing things parents should know about supporting their school teams.
  • Students who are not in a SUPERVISED after-school sport or activity immediately after school need to leave the building at the end of the school day.  Students who drive themselves should leave as soon as the buses depart; students who do not drive are expected to take the bus home or be picked up promptly (no later than 3 p.m.).
  • Visit the athletic eligibility page for links to required athletic forms for each sport. Forms are also located in the rack outside the bookkeeper's office. Forms can be turned in at the bookkeeper's office anytime between 6:45 a.m. and 3:15 p.m.  Athletic participation and ASB privilege fees apply prior to participating at the first athletic event.
