Central Kitsap Schools has had a school support levy in place for nearly 30 years. The levy provides funding in four areas: student supports, safety, special education, and sports & activities. Following the February levy failure, we received and appreciated the valuable feedback from staff, families, and community members emphasizing the need for more transparency around what the levy funds and the anticipated impact of a levy failure.
If the April levy replacement measure does not pass, all levy-funded areas and items would be subject to reductions. (We will continue to provide all required services for special education.)
Due to staffing timelines, we must begin developing a budget for the upcoming (2024-25) school year this spring. We are surveying our staff, families, and community as part of a process to prioritize areas to continue funding. Our intent is to be clear about our budgetary constraints and consequences and provide survey respondents the opportunity to weigh in on what's most important to them to continue funding if the levy fails in April.
