Klahowya Celebrates!
Ribbon Cutting Marks Opening of the Klahowya Addition

Klahowya Secondary School students, staff and dignitaries gathered Wednesday to admire the school’s new learning and athletics spaces—and to thank the community for providing them.

Guests filled the bright new auxiliary gym to celebrate completion of a two-story addition on the north side of the building. The addition houses permanent classroom spaces, the auxiliary gym, and a choir room. Other work included upgrades to the school’s athletic fields, including a new synthetic turf field and track. Grandstands will be installed this fall.

“This addition is stunning,” said Superintendent David McVicker. “And judging by the looks on students’ faces on the first day of school, they think so, too!”

Completion of this project fulfills the first major project promised to our community with the 2016 bond measure. The same measure is funding the Olympic High School modernization and addition and new Central Kitsap High and Central Kitsap Middle schools. It is also funding safety and security improvements across the district, as well as elementary playground and other athletic field upgrades.
